Installing Metals Letters into Masonry or Wood Walls
Tape the supplied paper spacing and drilling template onto the walls in exact location chosen for the sign. Make sure to set it horizontally, or follow a mortar line in the case of brick or concrete block walls.
Drill through markings on template using a drill bit of the SAME DIAMETER as the mounting studs provided, usually 3/16”
Remove template. Brush or vacuum drilling dust from the wall. Blowing out the drilling dust from the holes will result in greater adhesion of the studs into the walls.
Screw studs into threaded holes in backs of the letters. NOTE – DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN STUDS AS THIS MAY CAUSE DIMPLING ON THE FACE OF THE LETTERS. Slide on aluminum offset spacers, if supplied.
Cut nozzle of the supplied glue cartridge to a size that will allow the stud to slide in.
Apply glue to the studs by inserting them into the glue cartridge nozzle while squeezing the trigger of the dispenser. Several letters may be prepared at one time. (Cartridge dispenser not supplied).
Press letters into wall by hand if possible. If additional force is required, place a cloth folded into a thick pad to protect the painted or lacquered finish of the letters, and use a rubber mallet.
Straighten letters as required with a rubber mallet. Wipe clean using a soft cloth, following the direction of the grain on the face of the letters. (for brushed finishes).

Mounting Wall Letters/Number on Fieldstone or Other Irregular Surfaces
Letters will be supplied with extra length studs, which must be cut to size of the job. No offset spacers are provided as the lengths would all have to be different. Align letter faces using straight edge as a guide.
Installation Of Cast Plaques
Installation of plaques (PDF)
Blind Mounting of Address Plaques
A brown paper template is included with this plaque for determining the location of the mounting holes. Tape this template in the desired location on the back of the plaque. Using a drill bit of the same diameter as the four mounting studs (usually 3/16”), drill through the marked holes.
Screw the mounting studs into the four tapped holes and snug up with a pair of pliers. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN, as this may create a bump on the face of the plaque.
Align the studs with the drilled holes and push the plaque into place. Use a rubber mallet and a wad of cloth to protect the face of the plaque, if extra force is required. For extra security, apply a mastic-type glue on the studs, such as PL200.
Wipe clean with a soft dry cloth.
Screws Through Face With-or Without-Rosettes
Hold the plaque up to the wall in the appropriate place and mark the wall through the four drilled holes. Drill holes with appropriate size drill for the screws, or for the plastic wall plugs if mounting on drywall. Screw plaque onto surface with supplied screws. If decorative rosettes have been supplied with this plaque, glue these over top of the screws.
CAUTION – This plaque has a clear protective coating to prevent oxidizing of the surface. The coating can be easily damaged through mis-handling. If cleaning is required, wipe with a clean soft cloth only in the direction of the grain of the plaque, or use a solution of water and mild detergent. Do not use any chemical-based or abrasive cleaners. |
